MEET THE TEAM

I’m Elaine Whitby and represent the Friends of Winckley Square on the PAA committee. I’m largely a consumer of the arts rather than a maker: music, ceramics, sculpture and contemporary circus are my main interests but I enjoy the atmosphere of many kinds of live performance. I’m keen to do what I can to support arts & craft in and around Preston.

My name is Susan Rice. I serve on the Preston Arts Committee as both Secretary and Minutes Secretary. My interests involve all the arts. Music is extremely close to my heart and I am a member of Preston Opera. PAA main aim is to make a cross section of the arts available to the people of Preston through the annual Arts Festival.

I'm Vicky and I have been part of the Arts Festival committee for approximately six years. I am extremely passionate about 'The Arts' which I suppose developed more from taking my son around different dance/performing arts classes.

For the most part, you will find me working away behind a laptop or snapping pictures at events.

I’m Vincent Smith and am currently Hon President of PAA. My commitment to the arts has been absolute since school days. I have represented Preston Poets’ Society on the PAA committee since 1994 and have attended Preston Recorded Music Society for a similar time period. Personal arts activities include oil painting, piano playing, writing (fiction, poetry and a tourist guide to the buildings of England), theatre and concert going and touring English buildings of historical interest.

Pam Potter here, chair of PAA and a professional artist. I have been a committee member of PAA for at least twenty years, at first to represent Preston Art Society then on my own to help promote the arts as a whole.

I have degrees in Fine Art with textiles and later History of Art and Education. I have taught art and calligraphy at Preston and Blackburn colleges for over thirty years. I exhibit my work in many venues and belong to several groups and societies.

I joined the PAA committee in 2003 and was Secretary from 2010 to 2021. Currently I represent Preston Poets' Society, Damson Poets and Preston Recorded Music Society. I studied poetry and playwriting at evening classes in Liverpool and have had 4 plays performed on stage. Terry Quinn and I presented Preston Arts Scene, the weekly 1 hour show on Preston FM for almost 10 years. I also produced a programme of radio plays written and acted by myself and fellow writers. Having had many of my poems published I am hoping to produce a volume of my own work.
